Nanimarquina was founded in Barcelona in 1987, with one clear idea: to design rugs. It's a simple statement, a transparent declaration of intent that Nanimarquina has made a reality by putting into practice values such as observation, innovative endeavor, communication, emotion and knowing how to modernize traditional craftsmanship. Most Nanimarquina designs have been internationally acclaimed and have been presented in museums such as MOMA in New York and Centre Pompidou in Paris.
Conscious of the profound differences between developed and developing countries, Nanimarquina has always been directly involved in promoting sustainable development. Nanimarquina helps boost the local economies of their manufacturing communities in India, Morocco, Pakistan and Spain, and participates in their progress by offering decent, salaried work opportunities to the inhabitants of those areas.
Nanimarquina is committed to using natural, renewable and recyclable resources, such as wool, jute, cotton and silk. Traditional production methods and the use of renewable energy help to maintain and improve natural resources for use by future generations.
