Bar Stool 1A
Overview
Design by Brian Buchik.
Made in Canada by Room B.
Angular good looks with a nod to mid-century modern. Bar Stool 1A is a clean, modern bar stool with the signature hardwood taper legs and exposed joinery of the Bar Stool 1 series. It combines the durability of a solid hardwood frame with the lightness and strength of a molded plywood seat and backrest, achieving the perfect balance of design and ergonomics.
The Stool 1 series consists of 3 stools that utilize interchangeable components. Building with interchangeable components creates less material waste and more efficient production methods, which all contribute to responsible and sustainable design. The solid hardwood frame features durable construction made entirely with mortise and tenon joinery and exposed bridal joints.
Select Natural Black Walnut, Natural White Oak, White Oiled White Oak or Red, Black or White lacquered finish. An optional, Brushed Aluminum Footrest Cover is available and sold separately.
The Bar Stool 1A is the first installment in a series of three. In the series, designer Buchik created three distinctively different stools which share some of the same physical components. From a production standpoint, the approach reduces set-up time, labor and material waste contributing to responsible design. Bar Stool 1A, distinguished by its exposed joinery and angled molded backrest is available in Natural Black Walnut, Natural White Oak, White Oiled White Oak or Red, Black or White lacquered finish.

Manufacturer: Room B
Room B was formed in 2009, when founder Brian Buchik decided to turn his passion for design and architecture towards the everyday products for the home and contract markets. The design and manufacturing company, located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, strives to offer good design that is timeless. They believe that good design is all encompassing: creating products that not only look good, but are also practical, affordable, and responsible.
As a young company, Room B maintains that "every little bit matters", undertaking positive approaches early on to try to lower emissions, conserve energy and reduce waste. Designing stackable chairs, for example, allows the company to better utilize shipping space, reducing the amount of transportation required, reducing emissions and creating less packaging material. Room B has also adopted the practice of using interchangeable parts in some of their designs, reducing production times, energy and material waste. All products are made in Canada, with an eye toward continually greening the business and production.
