This uniquely styled chair is the second installment in the Chair 1 Series from Room B. The result of an experimentation with materials, Chair 1B features Baltic Birch plywood laminated together on edge, unveiling the plywood grains and forming the seat and back. Framed in Natural Maple, the result is an interesting aesthetic from the contrast of solid hardwood and exposed plywood laminations.
The Chair 1 Series consists of 3 chairs varying in design and style while utilizing interchangeable components in their construction. Building with interchangeable components creates less material waste and more efficient production methods, which all contribute to responsible and sustainable design. All 3 chairs are shipped fully assembled and are stackable. Stacking also makes them ideal in a variety of environments - from public spaces, to restaurants, cafés, and in the home. The solid hardwood frame is composed of Natural Maple with Baltic Birch plywood seat and back hand-crafted with exposed end grains.
Available in Natural Maple with Baltic Birch seat and back.
The Dining Chair 1B is the second installment in a series of three. In the series, designer Buchik created three distinctively different side chairs which share some of the same physical components. From a production standpoint, the approach reduces set-up time, labor and material waste contributing to responsible design. Dining Chair 1B, distinguished by its contrasting frame, seat and backrest wood grains, is offered in Natural Maple with Baltic Birch seat and back.

Manufacturer: Room B
Room B was formed in 2009, when founder Brian Buchik decided to turn his passion for design and architecture towards the everyday products for the home and contract markets. The design and manufacturing company, located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, strives to offer good design that is timeless. They believe that good design is all encompassing: creating products that not only look good, but are also practical, affordable, and responsible.
As a young company, Room B maintains that "every little bit matters", undertaking positive approaches early on to try to lower emissions, conserve energy and reduce waste. Designing stackable chairs, for example, allows the company to better utilize shipping space, reducing the amount of transportation required, reducing emissions and creating less packaging material. Room B has also adopted the practice of using interchangeable parts in some of their designs, reducing production times, energy and material waste. All products are made in Canada, with an eye toward continually greening the business and production.View other products from Room B
