In the spring of 2004, the design duo RoomMate, alias Anne Birgitte Balle and Christine Schwarzer, decided to create an innovative product line for children. The focus point was to create positive and stimulating settings for creative children's play.
RoomMate wanted to create a series of children's furniture with an innovative expression, giving room to play, fantasies and absorption. RoomMate's designs can be used for sitting on, but are also perfect for gambolling and building dens.
As children often prefer to be in the same room as grown-ups, RoomMate designs their products to be able to function alongside the rest of the furniture.
So even if RoomMate's products are designed for children, they also function as funny and charming design inputs to the grown-up environment.
In the spring of 2004, the design duo RoomMate, alias Christine Schwarzer and Anne Birgitte Balle, decided to create an innovative product line for children. The focus point was to create positive and stimulating settings for creative children's play.
RoomMate gives kids the mental and physical space for interaction, fantasy and absortion. The versatile and appealing designs are perfect for self-expression and creation across a wide range of ages.
Since children invariably install themselves in every room of a house, RoomMate's products are scaled and colored with other household furniture in mind; so even though they're meant for kids, their charm sits well in a grown-up environment.
