Roros Tweed has been weaving high quality 100% Norwegian wool products since 1940 and has received the Norwegian Design Council's Award for Design Excellence several times. Designs are collaborations with Scandinavia's top designers and textile artists, and products are completely produced in Norway.
Norwegian based company, Røros Tweed began when Peder Hiort, a local mine director, left his entire fortune to a foundation that was set up to provide an education in textile production. Since 1940, Røros Tweed has taken the Norwegian textile market by storm and through constant education in textiles is established as one of the most renowned Norwegian quality brands.
Today, the Røros Tweed factory is the only producer of Røros blankets and throws, ensuring the chain stays in Norway. The Norwegian sheep graze on clean, fresh mountain pastures, making their wool pure and more environmentally-friendly than most textile companies. Røros produces superior quality and functional products, that are innovative, beautiful and traditional.
