Using straight grain Akita Cedar, Magewappa art craft was first developed in the beginning of the 17th Century. Its first form took the shape of a lunch box made by a woodcutter in the Odate area of Northern Japan. The Lord of Odate Castle then encouraged the technique in a samurai's work and it grew in popularity. In recent years the craft has been used as a base for the development of new techniques and modern design. Popular for its straight grain and light weight, the Akita Cedar used in these products is more than 250 years old. This Sake Bottle holds temperatures - both warm and cool - very well and does not produce condensation on its surface.
Renowned for its resilience, strength and beauty, Akita Cedar is an ideal application for this Wappa Cedar Sake Bottle from designer Shunji Kurimori. And cedar's natural tendency to resist cracking and fading makes this piece an enduring addition and beautiful accent to a range of dinnerware collections.

Customer Reviews
Beautiful piece for the Sake connoisseur!
Got the Sake bottle and matching cups for my boyfriend's birthday and he loved it. He's quite the connoisseur so I couldn't just get him something that was "run of the mill." He was really impressed by the piece. And any artist/designer can appreciate the look, even if they don't like Sake.
The grains in the Cedar wood makes this a beautiful collection/display piece. You can taste a hint of the Cedar wood in the Sake and it gives the Sake a more earthy sort of taste.
Herman Miller's 3D Intelligent back material is a seating technology designed for the SAYL™ Chair. The 3-dimensional mesh-like suspension material is stretched from the Y-Tower at the back of the chair just as cables are stretched from the towers of a suspension bridge. The tension is greater in the transition areas, from the thoracic to the lumbar regions and between the lumbar area and sacrum. "Hinge points" allow these areas to flex and support the healthy, forward rotation of the pelvis. At the same time, less tension in other parts of the back encourages a full range of seated movement.
Y-Tower
Y-Tower is the primary support structure of Herman Miller's SAYL™ Chair. The Y-Tower retains tension, replacing the traditional frame of task chairs. It works like the towers from which a bridge is suspended and combines with a 3D Intelligent suspension material to provide frameless back support that hugs the user's back from resting through reclining, forward leaning and twisting motions.
