Distinction - the art of serving dinner. The Distinction porcelain dinner set creates an artistically comprehensive experience for the food and the way it is served. Since most food articles are either oval or oblong the basic form of the dinner set is a kind of oval, concave on one side and flatter on the other. The result is a set of 8 pieces (1 cup, 3 bowls and 4 plates), which can be placed close together on the table or in the cupboard.
Distinction offers you the possibility to add your own personal touch to the dinner table. With its wide edge, the largest plate forms a beautiful frame for the food served upon it, and at the same time serves as a service plate upon which the smaller plates, bowls, or dishes can be placed in various ways creating different images. The set is created by the internationally acknowledged potter Bente Hansen.
In 2005, Distinction received the Formland-Prize at Scandinavia's largest design-fair and in the beginning of 2006 the porcelain-set received "The Design of 2006"-award at Ambiente fair in Frankfurt, Germany.
Why wait for new ideas, when they can be actively sought? This is the philosophy behind the Stelton "explore" Collection, where the concave curve is a characteristic element. A new exclusive line of exciting design products created by selected designers from around the world.

A Stelton state of mind: To believe in surprising innovative clearly functional and high quality Scandinavian design. Stelton is a brand that tickles the design gene; an adventure in stainless steel.
Stelton was founded in Denmark, 1960 with humble beginnings selling steel hollowware. When administrative director Peter Holmblad established a cooperation with the leading Danish architect and designer Arne Jacobsen in 1964 they saught to create a true line of tableware where correlation of design between the individual items would always ensure harmonious table settings. The result was the now famous Cylinda-Line which was launched in 1967 and immediately attracted considerable attention for its serene and functionalist design. The company rapidly grew in Denmark and worldwide due to the success of Cylinda-Line.
Today, Stelton offers five different design-lines with products from more than 20 top-designers and thereby represents once again one of the most innovative and front-running companies of its kind. Stelton has been awarded the "ID-prize" by the Danish Design Council four times and a number of Stelton products are exhibited in a.o.The Museum of Modern Art and The Cooper-Hewitt Museum, New York; Philadelphia Museum of Art; Victoria & Albert Museum and British Museum, London; Staatliches Museum für angewandte Kunst, Munich and Kunstindustrimuseet, Copenhagen; Louvre and Pompidou, Paris. On top of this, Stelton receives each year some of the world's most important international design prizes such as iF product design award, Red Dot, and FORM.
Stelton represents a special view of the world - we call it "a Stelton state of mind": to believe in surprising, innovative, clearly functional and high quality Scandinavian design.
