Octopus Duvet Cover

By: Sally L., Designer (Las Vegas, NV)

I Love the design and overall feel and look of this duvet. The one thing they could in prove on is the break in the octopus design print. Other then that the material is soft and comfortable. Thank you Yliving.

Thomas Paul

Designer: Thomas Paul

Thomas Paul has been described as a style star for his colorful prints, whimsical patterns and ability to design contemporary products that bring a fresh outlook on life. It's hard to put a finger on the genre that Paul likes best. His designs span from the Victorian era to the present. Many of his product designs echo vintage print and fabric patterns, but are reinvented to fit into modern spaces.

Perhaps, Thomas Paul is simply reflecting the collective consciousness of New York. As a city that honors the past as much as it strives into the future, his hometown must have had a hand at developing Paul's unique perspective. In the mid-nineties, Paul earned a degree in textile design from the Fashion Institute of Technology. He went on to create ties and scarves for Calvin Klein, Bill Blass and DKNY. In fact, Paul started his own neckware collection right before jumping into the world of bedding. Bedding seemed to be the gateway for more product design. Soon he was designing lighting, graphic dishes, stationary and bath accessories.

Thomas Paul has created his own unusual world. In his world, bandana patterns make good pillows, horse prints create eye catching shower curtains, colorful birds grace plastic dishes and leopard print comes in fun colors from the 60's. While his bedding collection has won him many mentions in magazines such as Elle, Marie Claire, and Harper's Bazaar to name a few, he remains just as vigilant at creating the best products possible as he did when he first started. It's a good thing for the home accessories world that he is as dedicated as he is. Where else could someone buy an octopus duvet cover?

thomaspaul: Designs that remind you of simpler times and places only found in dreams.

The thomaspaul brand was founded by designer Thomas Paul, who believes that a giant octopus duvet cover can tie a room together and that a vintage koala bear print tea towel makes a kitchen feel homy. This whimsical collection makes one believe that the most unlikely pattern or print can transform a room. Much of this product line has been inspired by Victorian era design patterns, nautical prints, animals and Danish design. There's not one particular genre that Thomas Paul sticks to when designing. Perhaps, that is one of the reasons his collection appeals to a wide range of people and has graced such magazine covers as Elle, Country Living and Vogue.

As a native New Yorker, Thomas Paul grew up wanting to pursue a career in fashion. After graduating from the Fashion Institute of Technology, he started his own neckware company before going into bedding, and then home furnishing design. His ultimate goal is to offer products that cover every segment of the home furnishings market. As his collection grows, his sources of inspiration seem to get bigger. The result is a varied assortment of products that never seem trite or mundane.

Thomas Paul designs products that help people tell their own story. Like a creative writing prompt, his products are the starting point that give people permission to express themselves. Without his products would people still express themselves? Sure. But would it be as fun decorating a home?
