HAL is Jasper Morrison's fresh take on the multifunctional shell chair, offering a simplified contemporary molded seat in several configurations and colors. The shape of HAL's shell ensures plenty of freedom of movement and the slightly flexible polypropylene makes many different sitting positions possible Ð even sideways and astride the chair. Because of this, HAL facilitates dynamic, ergonomic seating. This new modern molded polypropylene seat is offered with a selection of bases, including these wooden legs in solid oak. Pair Light or Dark Oak legs with a choice of eight shell seat colors for a beautiful contrast of material and color.

Designer: Jasper Morrison
Jasper Morrison is one of today's most influential industrial designers. He is renowned for his elegant and straightforward style. Born in London in 1959, Morrison studied at the Royal College of Art in London. He pursued further studies at the Hochschule der Künste in Berlin on a fellowship. In 1986 he founded his own design studio in London.
Jasper Morrison became a leading figure of "New Simplicity", a movement that advocated a more modest and also more serious approach to design. In addition to furniture, he has also created lamps, home accessories, textiles, a tram system for the city of Hanover, Germany, and a bus shelter for the Vitra Campus in Weil am Rhein.

Vitra has manufactured furniture designs by Charles & Ray Eames and George Nelson since 1957. Product longevity is central to Vitra's contribution to sustainable development; short-lived styling is avoided at all costs. This can be seen most clearly in the classical pieces of furniture that have been used for decades, had several owners and have then even ended up as a part of a collection. For Vitra, the manufacture of sustainable products means intense pre-production development, where the highest-grade materials are selected and tests are carried out that simulate 15 years of use. In order to enforce and monitor sustainable development in all business activities of the company, a work group was formed in 1986 by the name of 'Vitra and the Environment'. Because of this, Vitra can proudly claim that it has been dedicated to sustainability for nearly a quarter of a century.
