Born in Paris in 1949, he is one of the most original and creative designers of our time. He has obtained many important acknowledgements such as the Grand Prix National de la Création industrielle and the Honor Award of the American Institute of Architects, he considers himself as "a Japanese architect, an American art director, a German industrial designer, a French artistic director, an Italian furniture designer".

This is a funky and contemporary piece that I am using as a stool in the children's bathroom right next to the tub. Perfect height to sit while they bathe. Can get wet - and bonus, I can use it to store the bath toys!! Great piece.

Bubu 1er stool works for our office
The stool is a little too light weight when empty so can tip easily. Works well for our dental office w/limited space. Staff each has a stool in the lunch room to store their personal items. Lid a little difficult to remove by grabbing just the hole on the top. Perhaps when it's a little more broken in, it will become much easier. Other than that, it's design and function are what makes this stool a good choice for us.
We waited about 6 months for the stools. Each cost $85, but I think the additional $40 per stool for shipping is exhobitant. The stools were shipped in 2 boxes each weighing less than 20 pounds. $400 in shipping is outrageous.

I got 2 of these- one to store my stylish dog's stylish toys and one to store some fleece blankets for my guests to use when we host movie nights.
They are just the right size and don't occupy too much visual space.
I also own 4 Prince Aha stools also designed by Philippe Starck. The Bubu stools, while a little less stable to use as seating are able to fit more items and open more easily thanks to the hole in the center of the cover.
While they took over a month to arrive, they were worth the wait.
Herman Miller's 3D Intelligent back material is a seating technology designed for the SAYL™ Chair. The 3-dimensional mesh-like suspension material is stretched from the Y-Tower at the back of the chair just as cables are stretched from the towers of a suspension bridge. The tension is greater in the transition areas, from the thoracic to the lumbar regions and between the lumbar area and sacrum. "Hinge points" allow these areas to flex and support the healthy, forward rotation of the pelvis. At the same time, less tension in other parts of the back encourages a full range of seated movement.

Y-Tower is the primary support structure of Herman Miller's SAYL™ Chair. The Y-Tower retains tension, replacing the traditional frame of task chairs.
