Designer: Marcel Wanders
Co-founder and Art Director of the Dutch design company Moooi, Marcel Wanders first received worldwide attention for his iconic Knotted Chair created for Droog Design in 1996. The Knotted Chair paired high tech materials with "low tech" production methods, embodying Marcel's chief concern with bringing the human touch back to design. Striving to create a "new age" in which designer, craftsperson, and user are reunited in design process, Wanders mixes innovative materials and techniques to create lasting pieces. A prolific product and interior designer, Wanders has over 1700+ products to his name for private clients and premium brand such as Alessi, Kartell, Moooi, and Flos. Many of his designs have been selected for the most important design collections and exhibitions in the world, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York and San Francisco, the V&A Museum in London, the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, Museum Boijmans van Beuningen in Rotterdam, the Central Museum in Utrecht, Museum of Decorative Arts Copenhagen and various Droog Design exhibitions.View other products by Marcel Wanders

XO. An old cognac ? "Kisses and hugs"? Look again without applying a known pattern. XO is simply a cross and circle. XO is all about breaking down the familiar and giving it a fresh perspective. By putting together forms that do not seem to go along naturally, they hope to show you that, in fact they do. Like a cross and circle. Simple, graphic - and yet unexpected.
In the beginning, back in 1984, Philippe Starck was raising to stardom; Gérald Mialet's spirits were high. Together, they crossed the line and decide to create a new design house: XO. To quote Starck, "To make a beautiful baby, parents have to be in love". XO is definitely a love affair.
