Zaha Hadid was born in Baghdad in 1950. She studied at the Architectural Association in London, where she qualified in 1977.
Hadid began her professional architectural career in 1979, with her uniquely organic design aesthetic giving rise to some of the greatest architectural wonders of the modern age. Some of her best known works include the Vitra Fire Station at Weil am Rhein, Germany, and a residential building for the IBA in Berlin. Her major completed projects include the Lf One Pavilion at Weil am Rhein (1993-99); the Mind Zone at Millennium Dome in London (1997-99); a tram station and car park in Strasbourg (2001) and a ski jump in Innsbruck (2002).
