The low-profile stainless-steel case and clever construction of the Roman Watch belie this timepiece's war-era origins, which are only hinted at by its sculpted hands. Coming on the heels of Rosendahl's wall clocks of the same design, the Roman Watch is one of a trio of watches based on Arne Jacobsen's original clock designs. Unique to this collection, the mechanical movement is located on the back of the watch, serving as an anchor for the leather band, while the dial and the crystal are married in a single unit.

An architect of Danish origin, Jacobsen (1902-1971) put an emphasis on creating complete design solutions, creating this classic clock design for Aarhus City Hall.
