Marcel Wanders’ Circus Collection From Alessi

Marcel Wanders is by far one of my favorite designers. I love his attention to detail and especially the out-of-the-box thinking that goes into his designs. They’re clever, witty, unexpected and quite frequently, a bit cheeky. His recent collaborations with Italian design company Alessi have introduced two new collections: the Circus Collection and the Dressed for X-mas Collection. Today we introduce to you the Circus Collection.

With loud patterns and bold colors, the Circus Collection breaks the mold from Alessi’s usual style. The collection itself features five limited edition special pieces in addition to several pieces of tableware, kitchenware, and accessories. Aptly named the Circus Collection after its Big Top inspiration, Marcel Wanders has created a magical world of fun and whimsy. Thus, images of carousels and clowns brightly dressed in geometric patterns capture the historical scene of the Circus alongside other endearing characters.

Reminiscent of a circus performer’s platform, the Circus Wine Cooler has a bold, red and white triangular pattern. Two golden ball handles add a final flourish to complete the design. Using Alessi’s renowned metal working techniques to create this cooler, the stainless steel construction helps to chill wine in festive, Big Top style.
