The Christophe Pillet Story

Christophe Pillet, born in 1959 in Montargis, France, is a renowned designer based in Paris, celebrated for his clear and simple design ethos. After completing his education at the prestigious French National School of Fine Arts of Nice in 1985, Pillet furthered his studies at Milan's Domus Academy. Here, he collaborated with noted designers like Michele De Lucchi, Carlotta de Bevilacqua and Martine Bedin. His return to Paris marked a significant phase in his career, where he worked alongside the famed Philippe Starck before establishing his own design studio.

Educated at the Decorative Arts School in Nice and Domus Academy in Milan, Pillet's journey in design is marked by a blend of French elegance and Italian craftsmanship. His collaborations with Oluce, an Italian lighting manufacturer, have yielded designs such as the Niwa and Plume collections that are both innovative and reflective of the brand's long-standing tradition in lighting. Similarly, his work with Kartell, known for its revolutionary use of plastics in furniture, includes the Shibuya Vase, a vibrant display of color that unites form and function. With Mazzega 1946, Pillet has explored the artisanal realm of glassmaking, creating pieces that are both contemporary and reflective of the brand's rich history in glass craftsmanship such as the Jar Table Lamp.

In 1994, Pillet's exceptional talent was recognized when he was named ‘Designer of the Year’ at the Paris furniture show. He has since been honored with several international awards, including the Red Dot Design Award, the Wallpaper Design Award and the Prix d’Excellence. Pillet's design approach is characterized by a pursuit of simplicity and clarity of expression, principles that guide his wide-ranging projects. His mastery of design and innate sense of elegance have earned him a distinguished place among French designers globally.
