A favorite among high-profile private clients, top brands and celebrities, Nolen Niu is an American designer of modern furniture recognized for his holistic approach to design and clean, provocative aesthetics. His passion for contemporary furniture design took off after graduating from the world-renowned Art Center College of Design in 1999, Niu has always been "fascinated with how spaces can affect the way people interact, their moods and activities." He draws inspiration from his love for architecture and furniture, and takes an interest in new technologies and how things are created.
In such a short time, Nolen Niu successfully etched a niche for himself in the highly competitive design industry of today. In 2005, he formed his Los Angeles furniture design and manufacturing firm, offering services from product development to production.
Nius major break as an emerging talent came at the prestigious 2006 Salon Satellite Milan Furniture Fair, where he launched his first collection featuring the iconic Zero Chaise Lounge that received international acclaim. He has since graced numerous national and international exhibition events.
In addition to his collections being featured in Esquire magazine, The New York Times and 300 other media publications and books, Niu was nominated for the 2012 Smithsonian Cooper-Hewitt National Design Awards for Product Design. He currently teaches at the Art Center College of Design.
