Milton Glaser

Milton Glaser was a renowned graphic designer born in The Bronx, New York City, in 1929. Best known for designing the “I Heart New York” logo, which has become an enduring American pop-culture staple, Glaser was the founder of New York magazine, and also designed a 1966 poster for Bob Dylan and one of the logos for DC Comics. He designed a collection of rugs for Nanimarquina called “African Pattern,” which exhibits his belief that all things are ultimately connected. In 2004, Glaser won the National Design Award Lifetime Achievement from the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum and in 2009, he was awarded the National Medal of Arts by President Barack Obama—the first graphic designer to receive the award.
