As lovely as I had always thought
Alfredo Haberli's design for the Origo dinnerware manufactured by Iittala was on my wish list. Then on a Finn Air flight I peeked into Business Class and saw that their chanterelle soup was being served in the Origo bowls. Upon returning home I searched to find the vendor who would provide the bowls at the right price (YLiving!). Donating old bowls I've had since college to my daughter in college, these Origo bowls (purchased both large and small) look stunning filled with oatmeal/soup/pistachios. Washing in dishwasher makes them super easy and I was particularly pleased to see that they "nest" very efficiently - saving cabinet space. Only negative: YLiving should use more Green packaging. Packing peanuts should be replaced entirely and shippment came in two boxes. Not necessary. Take a lesson from Mr. Haberli's efficient design and reconsider wiser/natural solutions.

Better than I thought a bowl could be
We looked for dishes with a design sense for quite a while and found it difficult to get away from the French country style that dominates the department stores. The Origo collection is perfect: fresh, colorful, sleek lines, and each dish is nicely sized. This is especially true of the dinner plates. They are large enough to give you a healthy serving, but not so large that they invite you to overeat.
