The Barovier & Toso Story
Barovier & Toso is one of the world’s oldest family businesses. Founded in 1295 as Barovier in Murano, Italy, the company grew to prominence in the 1400s with the work of Angelo Barovier, whose glass objects can be seen in museums today. Renamed Barovier & Toso in 1942, the company forges Venetian mouth blown crystal with master artisans using the same age-old tradition passed down over generations. This technique has allowed for unique and sustainable designs different from any other crystal on the market.
Key Features
The Torpedo Taif Chandelier from Barovier & Toso produces high visual impact as a distinctly tall, slender figure crafted in the image of traditional Murano-style luminaires. With over seven centuries of history, Barovier & Toso see themselves as custodians of an age-old tradition in Venetian glassmaking. Here, the storied company aims for the out-of-the-ordinary with a long format composition that’s ideal in open spaces. The chandelier’s body flows down with a series of tapering mouth-blown glass forms. Curling and hanging accents underscore the piece’s attention to detail. The wavy silhouette of arms produces candle-like holders for a shining display. Brilliant lamps give the artisanal glass a shimmering quality while producing a spacious atmosphere.
